Description

The Augusta Food Bank was established in 1981 to provide a supplemental source of food to individuals and families in need. We now serve an average of 350 households each month. Residents of Augusta or Manchester may apply for an order of groceries once every 28-30 days. The pantry facility is located in St. Mark's Episcopal Church Parish Hall at 9 Summer St in Augusta. A warehouse is located on Bangor St. Our Food Bank, a Partner Agency of United Way of Kennebec Valley, is managed by a Board of Directors made up entirely of volunteers and representatives from the community and participating congregations. Each month more than 80 people donate their time to ensure this vital service is maintained. New volunteers are welcomed on a regular or substitute basis. The Augusta Food Bank is a 501© (3) organization. We partner with Good Shepherd Food Bank in Auburn to provide food to the needy. Some foods are purchased locally as necessary. Federal commodities are available from the Maine State Department of Agriculture. Throughout the year, there are many food drives throughout the community that support our efforts. We could not operate without the support of the amazing individuals, businesses and congregations of the Augusta and Manchester communities. We are open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 12:30-2pm and Monday evening from 5:30-7pm.
