Back Bay Mission - Food Pantry

We operate the Mississippi Gulf Coast's only client choice food pantry. This model allows clients to select their own food from different categories based on household size. In allows clients to maintain dignity while receiving a vital service, increasing client satisfaction. It also reduces waste by ensuring that clients receive food that meets their dietary needs and personal tastes. The Mission has been using the client choice model since 2014. We expanded it to include our homeless clients, who have special needs when storing and preparing food, in 2015. We also expanded it to include our summer meals program. Clients can receive food once every thirty days. They must live in the 39530, 39531, or 39540 zip codes, provide social security numbers, and sign a USDA eligibility form.
