Description

More than 30 years ago, local civic and church leaders organized a committee of concerned citizens to address hunger issues in Hamilton County. Their idea was to collect surplus food from the food industry to share with the needy in our community. This was the beginning of the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. Our mission is "to lead a network of partners in eliminating hunger and promoting better nutrition in our region". This shared work is supported through yet another network of supporters, including: retail food donors, food manufacturers who donate excess product, corporate donors, charitable foundations, local community and civic groups, and countless individuals who fight hunger with their monetary donations and volunteerism.
