Description

The Community Nutrition Program provides a three-day supply of groceries up to twice a month, free of charge. Both pick-up and delivery are available. This program, a partnership with the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, helps to ensure that people in need have access to healthy food. Delivery is available to people with disabilities, seniors and others with transportation barriers. The food pantry is located at 1206 S. Main St., Elmira and is open from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Consumers who come to the food pantry to pick up up their orders may choose from available items. We deliver to residents of Steuben, Chemung, and Schuyler counties. To be eligible for a delivery, a consumer must: Not have a valid driver’s license; not have a working vehicle; be unable to travel or wait for services alone; or have a disability that makes travel to a store or food distribution site unsafe. Delivery recipients receive a three-day supply of groceries which may include fruit, vegetables, proteins, dairy, soups, ready-made meals, condiments, beverages, personal hygiene products and cleaning supplies. Community Nutrition Program staff package delivery orders with items available from the Food Bank. Due to the high number of consumers now being served by the program, we are unable to customize delivery orders. Delivery orders should be scheduled two weeks in advance. Consumers should allow a two-hour window for delivery. To place an order, contact the Community Nutrition Program at cnp@aimcil.com or (607) 962-8225 ext. 127. Delivery orders made by email require confirmation of receipt.
