Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry is a feeding ministry of Lenawee County Mission, a tax-exempt not-for-profit organization that serves all of Lenawee County and surrounding areas. Fishes & Loaves goal is to assist in the alleviation of hunger in Lenawee County by soliciting, collecting, packaging and eventually growing food for distribution to those of most need in our community. Our services include a grocery style client choice format for monthly family distribution, emergency food program and a farming program that provides opportunities for our LifeChange Program residents to experience selfless servanthood, self-sufficiency activities and vocational responsibilities. Approximately 11% of Lenawee County residents qualify for assistance fromFishes & Loaves. Our client base is low-income people, mainly families, who need emergency help to put food on the table. Over half of those served by this ministry are children and seniors. Fishes & Loaves operates a warehouse/distribution store front where we store donated or rescued food for distribution. The ministry actively solicits food from the donor base of Lenawee County Mission, area churches, organizations, as well as food banks, growers, retailers, wholesalers and processors. Our Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry will operate as a "client choice" model of emergency food distribution whereby clients are able to select their own food, much like a grocery store. Most emergency food programs provide fixed containers (boxes or bags) of food for clients, with little or no choice on items included. Much has been written on the positive aspects of client choice and there are many assumptions about why this model of emergency food delivery is preferable. Pantry Hours: Daytime: Monday-Friday 10am-3pm, Evenings: Tuesday & Thursday 5pm-7pm, Weekend: Saturday 10am-Noon
