Description
As we glean food from sources around Ames, we end up with literally THOUSANDS of pounds of produce, dairy, baked goods, and meat each week. We use as much as we need for the meal program, but still have an ABUNDANCE that we give away to anyone who can use it to help make ends meet - we call it the "Free Market". Distribution happens at two locations: 116 Washington Ave. (just south of Express Pawn, which faces Lincoln Way), and 3626 Ontario St. (Trinity Reformed Church). Because the food is perishable, we collect it and give it away on the same day - distributions are at 5:00 to 5:30 PM every Monday and Thursday at the Washington Ave. location, and 10:00 to 10:30 on Saturday mornings at BOTH locations. There are no requirements for recipients (such as income), and no personal information is collected when food is handed out. We are simply sharing God's abundance with anyone who needs some help!
