Description

A community of "neighbors uniting to serve others in need" in order to transform their physical, mental, and spiritual well being. Our primary objective is to serve food and supply basic emergency needs to the hungry and impoverished citizens of the Verde Valley, including Sedona Arizona. In the United States 1 out of 4 persons do not know where their next meal will come from. Even more serious - 1 out of 3 children don't know if they will have a meal every day at home. You can help to make a difference and help our hungry neighbors. In September 2007, Hearts for the Hungry and the Homeless began feeding hot meals every Friday night at Riverfront Park in Cottonwood Arizona to those in need. The popularity and necessity of such a service grew fast and furious, feeding up to 120 people, soon we expanded our services to Cornville. In the spring of 2010 we were approached by St. Mary's Food Bank (largest and oldest Food Bank in the Nation) and the Verde Food Council (VFC) to open a food bank. With their help we receive between 15 and 20 thousand pounds of food per month. This allows us to provide food boxes, nutritious hot meals, and necessities to approximately 3,000 hungry people in the Verde Valley each month.
