Description
The Kent County Food Pantry was established in 1991 by the Christ Methodist Church in Chestertown Maryland and have been an independent 501(3)C nonprofit organization since 2001. The Christ Methodist Church proudly provides low-cost space and food storage for the pantry while an independent board of directors and management team represent Kent County. We have partnered with the Maryland Food Bank. United Way of Kent County and are members of the Chester Valley Ministers' Association (CVMA). Almost half of the Kent County Food Pantry clients have children age 18 or younger. Our clients are always so grateful for people's generosity Program director Miriam Greenlee and dozens of volunteers provide food to about 200 different families during the month. In 2014, 140.000 pounds of food were distributed to 586 different families, about 60 pounds of food per family.
