Description
The Merced County Food Bank is a private non-profit organization that grew out of community collaboration to feed the hungry in Merced County. The Merced County Food Bank is the hub of nonprofit food collection and distribution in the County, supplying the bulk of the food that many local agencies need to serve those living in poverty. We partner with our member agencies to provide food to programs in underserved neighborhoods through grocery pantries, senior centers, school lunches, daycare centers and hot meal kitchens. Food is distributed to people in need at neighborhood food pantries, school lunch and afterschool programs, and hot meal kitchens throughout Merced County. The Food Bank is in partnership with over 80 area pantries and manages 22 USDA Commodities food distribution sites. In addition, the Food Bank is in the fifth year of administering the Senior Brown Bag Program providing food to very low-income seniors.
