Description

Pennsylvania Avenue Food Cupboard Mission Statement: "No one should go hungry. The Pennsylvania Avenue Food Cupboard commits to distribute quality food to those in need of nutritional assistance regardless of age, ethnicity, or religious belief, in a manner that demonstrates God's generous love, and preserve dignity and self-worth. Additionally, we dedicate ourselves to partner with the Food Bank of the Southern Tier and a variety of community groups to fight hunger in our community." We have recently joined forces with Let Elmira Live to create "Feed Elmira." Our food pantries are on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 9-11 am here at PAUMC and on the 2nd and 4th Thursday from 5-7 pm at Feed Elmira, 500 Walnut Street, Elmira. Any household may stop at any food cupboard, but is limited to once a month between the two sites. In order to register, a proof of residency must be provided for every member of the household. We will except driver's license, utility bill, and official mail showing resident's name and address. For children, we will accept report card, official mail, or, if under school age, birth certificate. Only one proof of residence is required per person. Emergency food boxes are available as needed. A member of the Food Bank of the Southern Tier...striving to help families and children meet their nutritional needs.
