The Shepherd Center

The Shepherd Center is a non-profit, ecumenical ministry that has served Rapides Parish since 1983. We are a ministry of last resort, offering full service emergency assistance, as available financial resources permit, with security and utility deposits, rent and utility payments, clothing vouchers, food, advocacy and other critical needs to those experiencing a financial crisis. The Shepherd Center is supported by the generosity of churches, synagogues, businesses, families and individuals in Rapides Parish. The Shepherd Center hosts several fundraising events, including the Holiday High Tea (a Cenla Christmas tradition), the Italian Feast, a Wine Auction and other event. The center also administers grants that address homelessness in Rapides Parish for veterans and non-veterans. Case managers at The Shepherd Center evaluate individuals and their circumstance to determine eligibility for these programs.
