Description

Since 1986, the Montgomery Area Food Bank (MAFB) has fought hunger and poverty by distributing food and other necessities to over 800 Partner Agencies in 35 of Alabama's 67 counties. We currently reach out to more than 330,000 individuals every year, providing more than 20 million pounds. Those we reach include children, seniors, the unemployed, low-pay working families, the homeless and disadvantaged, and disaster victims, among others. Through this food network, our Partner Agencies provide free food to individuals and families in need by distributing groceries, hosting on-site feeding programs or Meals on Wheels programs. Our distribution system takes food that otherwise would have gone to waste and provides it to people who struggle to make ends meet, often times choosing between food and other basic necessities such as medications and utilities.
